What are Twitterbots? Well, they are used to retweet the latest hashtag in your chosen genre. Many people like to use hashtags like #ASMSG or #IARTG to reach the whole indie community. However, some like to be very genre specific, and they use #YA or #romance.
How it works is, every few minutes, my bot will scour Twitter and find the latest people tweeting these hashtags, and then retweet them. In return, you get a lot of exposure, and those people will want to retweet something you’ve tweeted. So, it’s a good idea to have a tweet pinned with information you want the world to see. Like a latest release, link to your Amazon page, or your website. That way, when they retweet it for you, you’re getting a ton of exposure, and it’s all hands off.
So, how do you set it up?
Add a phone number to your twitter account if you haven’t. If you don’t know how, go here.
Then, go here. Then click “Create New App.”
Then fill everything out, and put your website. You can name the bot whatever you’d like in the name section. If you don’t have a website, use any old website. Just make sure that the https or http is included.
Once you’ve done this, you’ll be brought to a screen like this one:
Next, you need to go to keys and access tokens:
And copy down the consumer key and token. Then, go to the bottom:
And click the “create my access token,” button.
Now copy the access token and secret, then send those to me when you purchase the Twitterbot, as well as the hashtag you would like to retweet. After you’ve done all of this, simply go to permissions, and change it to look like this.
Then go to heroku and create an account. Just send me the login info along with the codes you just created, that way I can push the bot to a server so that it does the work 24/7. (When it prompts you to enter a language, select node.js)
Now you’re done! Remember, when you purchase the bot, I need those codes that you just generated. Both access and consumer, as well as the hashtag you want to retweet. This is not a monthly service. You just pay me one time to set it up, and you’re good to go!
(You can also send me the codes through the contact page or facebook)
